  1. Shareware Fee

  4. The shareware registration fee for OzTeX is:
  5.  
  6. In Australia: $30 for an individual or $150 for a group.
  7.  
  8. Outside Australia: US$30 for an individual or US$150 for a group
  9. (I will accept equivalent amounts in any other foreign currency).
  10.  
  11. NOTE: The Register program provides an alternative way to pay for OzTeX.
  12. In particular, it allows payment by all the major credit cards; this should
  13. be cheaper and easier for most people outside Australia.
  14.  
  15. Each fee is a one-time-only payment covering ALL future versions of OzTeX.
  16. The group fee covers all individual members of a company, university, etc.
  17. Everybody mentioned in the "Thanks" help file is exempt from payment.

  25. In some countries, US$30 is an awful lot of money.  If this amount is too
  26. much for you then get in touch and we'll do some haggling.  You'll find I'm
  27. a pretty soft touch.

  29. Unlike some shareware authors, I do not believe you are under any legal
  30. obligation to pay the shareware fee.  However, if you get a copy of OzTeX to
  31. try out and you decide to keep it then there is a moral obligation to pay.
  32. I will maintain a list of registered users and groups.  Apart from the moral
  33. satisfaction, here are some other benefits of being a registered user:

  35. - If you write me a letter or send me e-mail then you will get a reply.
  36.   Send e-mail to atrevorr@maths.adelaide.edu.au or akt@kagi.com.
  37. - If you supply an e-mail address I will keep you informed of new versions,
  38.   bug fixes, etc.  I will also try to help with OzTeX-related problems.
  39. - The more people who pay the fee the more likely I am to make further
  40.   improvements to OzTeX.

  42. All versions of OzTeX earlier than 1.5 remain freeware.

  132. Source code for OzTeX, including the OzTeX System Guide, is available for
  133. $100 (or US$100 outside Australia).  Send a cheque, cash or money order to
  134. the address given above and enclose two 1.4Mb floppies with a self-addressed,
  135. padded envelope.  I can also provide the source code by ftp if you prefer.

  137. OzTeX's source code can only be used under the following conditions:
  138. You can utilize the code for your own private use without any restrictions.
  139. If you intend to use more than about 20% of the code in an application that
  140. will be available to other people (public domain, shareware or commercial)
  141. then you must first ask for (and get!) my permission.

  143. If you want to modify OzTeX's source code then you will also need to buy MPW
  144. and the p1 Modula-2 system (which I can heartily recommend; send e-mail to
  145. m2@p1.space.net for details).

  147. Note that I switched from Metrowerks Modula-2 to p1 Modula-2 after Metrowerks
  148. decided to drop support for their Modula-2 products.  Anybody who purchased a
  149. previous version of OzTeX's source code can get my new source files for an
  150. extra $50 fee.
